The experiences a human being has from conception to 1st birthday, and all the experiences of the mother during that time, are so important. They shape us as much as our genes or what she physically takes into her body.

Every baby and mother pair are one biological system during the primal period. What happens to the two of them shapes attachment – their bond – their feelings about themselves, their lifelong health, and their relationships.

If you want to understand the reasons for so much illness, depression and anxiety today, look at birth. Our conception, what we experienced as we grew in the womb of our mother…her feelings and thoughts, happiness or fear – ease or worry – created our body, mind and emotions. Was your labor induced? Did you have a natural birth, a medicated birth, an epidural birth, a cesarean birth? Did she breastfeed you? For how long? Were you co-sleeping with your mother or parents? Were you held and loved and listened to when you cried?
